Ingredients

  • Johnnie Walker Black label - 60ml
  • 28792-ingredients-0
  • Brown Sugar - 1 tsp
  • 28792-ingredients-1
  • Water - 1 tsp
  • 28792-ingredients-2
  • Angostura bitters - 2 dashes
  • 28792-ingredients-3
  • Ice
  • 28792-ingredients-4

Method

  1. Grab a mixing glass. Measure and add 1 tsp of brown sugar, and 2 dashes of bitters into the mixing glass. Brown sugar gives a richer flavour compared to white sugar, and bitters are an aromatic ingredient that adds depth and complexity to the cocktail.

  2. Next, add 1 tsp of water to the mixing glass. This will help in dissolving the sugar and combining all the ingredients.

  3. Use a long bar spoon to stir the ingredients gently and thoroughly, making sure that the sugar dissolves and the bitters mix evenly with the water and sugar.

  4. Add ice cubes to the mixing glass until it's about ¾ full. Using ice is essential to chill the cocktail and dilute it slightly, which helps to balance the flavours.

  5. Use a jigger or measuring cup to measure and add Johnnie Walker Black Label whisky to the mixing glass. Use the bar spoon again to stir the cocktail gently but thoroughly until it's well-chilled, and the flavours have blended nicely.

  6. Using a cocktail strainer, strain the mixture into an old-fashioned glass.

  7. Hold a piece of orange peel over the old-fashioned glass, and then gently twist it to release the fragrant oil onto the surface of the drink. Finally, drop the twisted orange peel into the glass, so it floats on the surface of the drink as a garnish.
